Family Photos at The Villas of Amelia Island
As an Amelia Island family photographer, one of my favorite places for sessions is Omni Amelia Island Villas. It’s spacious, beautiful, and perfect for families—especially when you’ve got a big group with little ones, grandparents, and everyone in between.
This gallery is from a recent extended family session taken during a summer vacation. It’s common for my clients to visit Amelia Island during school breaks, family reunions, or just a relaxing getaway. Whether you’re staying at a resort or a beach house, it’s the perfect time to update your family photos—especially when you’re all together in one place.
I also work with locals here in North Florida who want new portraits or haven’t taken family photos in years. Extended family sessions have become very popular, and I absolutely love photographing them. There’s something so special about capturing all the generations together.

Best Time for Family Photos on Amelia Island
Summer in Florida gets hot fast—so I always recommend scheduling your session either at sunrise or golden hour (about an hour before sunset).
Sunrise is usually my first pick for big groups or young kids. It’s quieter, cooler, and we get that soft morning light that photographs beautifully. Plus, it helps avoid cranky kids, dehydration, and sweaty clothes!
Golden hour is also stunning and works well for laid-back evening sessions, especially if your family loves sunsets.
Why Omni Amelia Island Villas is a Great Location
This spot is ideal for family photos. There’s easy access to the beach, open grassy areas for group portraits, and beautiful natural dunes. It’s stroller-friendly and perfect for seniors too—no long hikes needed. We can easily capture a mix of posed and candid shots in one location without rushing or moving too far.
During this session, we started on the lawn to get classic group photos, then made our way down to the beach for some relaxed, natural moments. The light, the colors, and the joyful energy—it all came together perfectly.
Tips for Your Family Session
Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning family photos in Amelia Island:
- Plan outfits in advance – Soft neutrals, earth tones, blues, and whites work best at the beach. Avoid loud logos or heavy patterns.
- Bring water and snacks – Especially with kids and grandparents. Staying hydrated helps everyone stay happy.
- Pack a towel or blanket – Great for sitting poses or drying sandy feet.
- Allow extra time – Aim to arrive early so you’re not rushed.
- Relax and enjoy it – I’ll guide you through everything and make sure it feels fun, not forced.
Whether you’re vacationing or live nearby, a family photo session in Amelia Island is a beautiful way to document time together. And if it’s been a few years since your last session—or if this is your first one—I promise to make it easy, relaxed, and full of genuine moments.
