"Photography is about photographers.

A camera didn’t make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel"

Hey! I’m Phavy, founder of Phavy Photography, and I live for capturing those real, unforgettable moments on your wedding day. What started as a one-person business has grown into a talented team of photographers who share the same passion, approach, and commitment to exceptional service. Together, we’ve been documenting love stories for over 14 years.

Our style is all about keeping things authentic, vibrant, and true-to-color—so when you look back at your photos, it feels like you're reliving each moment exactly as it happened.

Our approach is rooted in documentary storytelling, which means we're always looking for the candid, in-between moments that make your day uniquely yours. From the laughter and happy tears to the quiet moments you may have missed, we capture it all as naturally as it unfolds. Our goal is to create images that feel timeless, genuine, and full of emotion—photographs that bring you right back to how your wedding day felt.

I’m originally from Lowell, a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Today, our team is based in St. Augustine and photographs weddings throughout Florida and beyond. Whether you're celebrating in Jacksonville, Boston, Los Angeles, or somewhere in between, we're ready to travel wherever your love story takes us. ✨

Fun Facts About Phavy / Phavy Photography

  • I speak Khmer, which comes in handy for Cambodian weddings—I can help aunties and uncles feel comfortable with a quick prompt or kind word in their language.
  • My faith and family roots are a blend: I’m Catholic, but my family is Buddhist by Khmer tradition. This helps me naturally understand and respect both religious and cultural celebrations.
  • I'm exposed and very familiar to the Filipino culture. My husband is half Filipino (half Haitian) and we have been to the Philippines quite a few times!
  • Most of my summer weddings are in New England. Florida heat in June–August is no joke, so I escape to the charm of New England instead of melting in the South.
  • Quick turnaround is my thing. I deliver proposals and sessions in 24–48 hours, because waiting weeks for photos is far too long.
  • I love to travel. From historic New England churches to golden beaches in Florida and beyond, I’m always up for capturing love stories in new places.
  • My style is documentary-meets-luxury: true-to-color, natural, and stress-free—so you’ll never feel stiff or “too posey” in front of my camera.

I was born and raised in Lowell, MA (and Lawrence, MA). I moved to Jacksonville while I was a junior in high school, met my husband then and never left. The majority of my family lives in Massachusetts. Less than a handful is in Florida. I do dream someday we will move to Massachusetts but for now we keep Jacksonville as our home.

We have three kids. The oldest is now living in New England. We have a crazy, chaotic, fast paced life... But somehow.. just somehow I have found a great balance in life while handling home and business.

My Family

We live for

I am always traveling with my family. I love that I am able to do this. This world is huge and we can not see enough of it. We are blessed to live quite an exciting life, always on the go. We travel for both work and leisure. I love to capture the beauty in anything and everything. Travel opens up my creativity, and gives my family a different perspective of things.

I feel this is important to add, especially for other Khmer folks. The #1 question I get asked when meeting people is: "What are you?" And most will guess Filipino or Hawaiian -- some type of Asian. Given the demographic I am in, not many know much about Cambodians. But I was born and raised in Lowell, otherwise known as Cambodia Town, so where I am from everyone knows I am Khmer.

Yes, it is rare to find a Cambodian girl born in the states who decide to take on photography full time. I love to show that every human, especially of the Khmer decent are resilient people and could achieve anything we put our minds too. I love having these conversations on my background, where my family came from, what they been through, and how they are doing.
